Control: Finding It Without Having It All
Control is at the root of my desires, goals, and ambitions.
I just want to have control.
I want to feel like I am in control.
I used to believe that meant having money, perfect health, and a problem-free life. The perfect job. The kind of freedom and wealth that would make me feel content, proud, and excited about life.
I was wrong.
Control is not entirely dependent on circumstances.
Having financial freedom and resources makes it easier to feel in control. The less you have, the harder it is. But the absence of those things does not mean the absence of control. Many people measure control by external things like wealth, status, or time, but those things only create the illusion of control. They help suppress feelings like fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. They help us feel content, proud, and excited about life.
But… suppressing difficult emotions is not the same as controlling them.
What if you could reduce those feelings without waiting for more time, freedom, or money? What if you could feel content, proud, and excited about life without needing more? What if you could create the feeling of control regardless of your circumstances? That sounds nice, right? Of course, you want wealth and freedom. So do I. But here is what you need to realize…. Even if you had everything you wanted, the desire for control would still be there. Unless you learn how to be in control regardless of what life gives or takes, the feeling of control will always be just out of reach.
Control is not about what you have.
It is about what you feel.
Control starts now. Even if you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or helpless, you still have control. Right now, you are choosing how to spend this moment. You control what you do with the energy attached to those emotions. You control your next move.
If control is what you want, find where you already have it and dig in.
Then, learn how to grow that feeling of control without “having it all.”
